Abstract

Split Film (2017) directed by Night Shyamalan is an analysis of this research. This film shows the story of a man who has several vision features, namely Kevin Wendell Crumb or what Kevin calls. He suffered from mental disorder caused by traumatic experiences of his childhood. The purpose of this study is to solve the problems experienced by the main characters in the film. The author uses qualitative analysis methods. Data collected from utterances and scenes, the authors analyzed this film using the theory of psychoanalysis by Sigmund Freud. The results showed Kevin as the main character who has multiple personalities. He has twenty-four personalities with several personalities being dominant, Dennis, Barry, and the Beast. The personalities show to find a way out of focus. These personalities reflect in the habits and characteristics that are different from Kevin's personality. In all of these changes, Kevin's ego has different defenses to improve his defense. In Dennis's personality, Kevin's ego uses repression. In Barry's personality, id Kevin uses a reaction formation. In Beast's personality, superego Kevin uses protection as protection. In short, Kevin's compilation is worthy of inconvenience he shares the results with one of the different changes as to what happened.
