Abstract

This thesis devotes to study the metaphor used by Kamala Harris throughout 2022 by using Nordquist’s (2019) as the theory and qualitative as the method. The researcher analyses the sentence of phrase of the speech taken from youtube. Researcher elaborates and analyzes the feature also the meaning of metaphor by using ordinary word. The researcher limits the speech only in 2022. Aims of this thesis is to enrich the knowledge and give the information about any kind metaphor that can be used in speech, also hope to make student understand the meaning of the metaphor it self. In this thesis the researcher did some steps of analyzing the data. First, the researcher read and watched the speeches. Second, the researcher wrote down the sentences or phrase including the figure of metaphor. Third, the researcher analyzed the sentence to find out the future and meaning of metaphor it used. The result of this thesis the researcher found seven types of metaphor. There are, complex metaphor, creative metaphor, dead metaphor, primary metaphor, root metaphor, conceptual metaphor and implied metaphor. Key word : Metaphor, Speech, Kamala Harris.
