Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find the hyperbole formula based on Claridge's theory and reveal the impact of using hyperbole in the album NICOLE by NIKI. The researchers used qualitative research in conducting the research. The object of this research was collected from the song lyrics on the Album NICOLE by NIKI. The researchers found 29 hyperbole and are classified them into the hyperbole formula. The result shows there were fourteen Single-word Hyperbole, eight Phrasal Hyperbole, three Clause Hyperbole, one Numerical Hyperbole, one The Role of Superlative, one Comparison Hyperbole, one Repetition. From the findings, the most dominant hyperbole formula in this Album is Single Word Hyperbole. In addition, many of the songs on this album are about the nostalgia of heartbreak in the past. The impact of using hyperbolic expression on most of her songs in this album is giving deep and dramatic sadness of heartbreak.
