Abstract

The aim of the research was to find out the correlation between watching movies with subtitles and students’ vocabulary mastery as well as students’ perspective of the effect of watching movies with subtitles towards their vocabulary mastery at Universitas Bina Darma. Quantitative approach was used in this research. The instruments of the research were vocabulary test and questionnaire. The number of samples were 60 students of Information System Study Program of Universitas Bina Darma. The samples were chosen by using purposive sampling technique. The data were calculated by using Product Moment Formula and recalculated by using Product Moment Formula in SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) Version 20. The findings of the research showed that there was a positive medium correlation between watching movies with subtitles and students’ vocabulary mastery.
