Abstract
This research analyzes figurative language used in Melanie Martinez’s song lyrics from Cry Baby album deluxe edition. Figurative language are saying something other than the ordinary ways. To conduct this research the researcher uses descriptive qualitative method, because the data in the form of words. The data of this research is the lyrics songs from Melanie Martinez’s Cry Baby album deluxe edition. To analyze the data, the researcher takes the data which consist of figurative language that are used in the lyrics songs from Melanie Martinez’s Cry Baby album deluxe edition, explain the implied meaning from each figurative language that the researcher found in the lyrics and finding the most dominant type of figurative language in the lyrics songs from Cry Baby album deluxe edition. The results of this research showed that there are 10 types out of 14 types figurative language based on Perine’s theory about figurative language, with the most dominant types is Imagery, because it was the perfect types of figurative language to use on lyrics songs.
