Abstract
This thesis examined the grammatical errors in the unpublished theses of English Literature study program students of Universitas Bina Darma. As one of the requirements for acquiring a bachelor‟s degree, a thesis must adhere to the rules of scientific writing, including the use of proper grammar. Despite its importance, grammatical errors persist in students‟ writing. This qualitative study employed a descriptive approach and case study design, analyzing 15 unpublished theses of English literature study program students in the academic year 2019 of Universitas Bina Darma by using Keshavarz‟s theory (2012). The data were identified based on grammatical rules considering the context of each sentence, such as use of the time and part of speech used in the sentence. The results revealed 38 errors, categorized into four kinds: 13 omissions (34,2%), 5 additions (13,1%), 17 substitutions (44,8%), and 3 permutations (7,9%). Substitution errors were the most dominant, accounting for 44,8% of the total errors. This study highlighted the need for improved grammar instruction and editing in thesis writing.
