Abstract

The development of big cities has created serious challenges in terms of urban mobility, especially related to the problem of traffic congestion and environmental impacts which are increasingly serious and disturbing. One of the increasingly attractive solutions to overcome this problem is the introduction of Light Rail Transit (LRT) transportation services. As a promising alternative, LRT offers mobility that is faster, more efficient and more environmentally friendly than most other urban transportation methods. On the journey towards more sustainable and environmentally friendly urban mobility, the role of public service communications in facilitating the adoption of LRT is becoming increasingly important. It is hoped that this research will provide a valuable contribution to further understanding of how public service communication can play a key role in changing public interest in LRT users. However, the success of LRT adoption is very dependent on public interest and involvement in using it, in this case public service communication plays a central role in forming positive perceptions and triggering public interest in using LRT.
